Not me, he has given me a glimpse of the unimaginable hell that addiction is. There is something so brave and courageous about putting it all out there and coming off as a totally selfish, careless loser, which is how some people will no doubt see him. I don't think I have ever understood addiction, but Perry tells the story of a man taken to the edge of oblivion and managing to fight his way back only to willing go back to oblivion. You can hear it in the slightly slurred words every now and then and the breathlessness.

It is hard to listen to this book and ignore the ravages addiction has had on this man. Had I not have been on a plane I would have turned it off and returned immediately. He was in an incredibly successful show and has a huge audience from that but when you consider the hype of this book truly it fails to engage or entertain. At times it reads like a list of people that have wronged him, while at the same time paints himself as being strong and perceptive. For someone that went to so many rehabs and attended various types of therapies you would think he would have come out of it if not showing that he has learned something but with some entertaining stories. Never acknowledging the possibility that maybe they just weren’t that good. Third, he constantly makes excuses when projects post friends where not successful. Also as a side note, we get it - he’s rich /famous and he has dated woman that are so far out of his league yet constantly reminds the reader how he broke up with them all first. Second, he is a baby man that frames the people in his life as being cruel or cold when they have had enough of living with / cleaning up after an addict. He is constantly aiming for the profound but comes off as cheesy nonsense. Full of platitudes and quotes that sound like a man that was given a book of quotes for Christmas and pulls them out to show people how smart and well read he is. First, he writes as though he has never read a book and has no concept of entertaining the reader rather than himself. Buckle up and let’s hope there isn’t a word count of this review. Where to start ? There are so many horrible things about this book. This is the first time I have written a review but as I wasted my credit on this meandering piece of junk I think this is more of a public service announcement rather than a review.
